Natural balance - environmental protection and sustainability at WEILBURGER Graphics

Gerhardshofen, June 22nd 2009 – The bigger you get, the more responsibility you have to take on! Currently consisting of 11 companies both at home and abroad, the GREBE Group is among the leading providers of special varnishes worldwide. With a total of over 750 employees and an overall production volume of 34,000 tonnes of lacquers and coatings per year, the Group as a whole takes environmental protection very seriously.

Since the very beginning, environmentally sound production and the ongoing conservation of resources have been matters of great importance to WEILBURGER Graphics GmbH. In view of the growing shortage of raw materials resources and the increases in the prices of raw materials and energy connected with that shortage, varnish systems based on raw materials which are independent of mineral oil are becoming more and more important.

WEILBURGER Graphics starts on-line coatings community

Gerhardshofen, December 5th 2008 –  WEILBURGER Graphics GmbH, with its registered office in Gerhardshofen (Franconia), is one of the first coatings manufacturers worldwide to recognise the signs of the times and start what is presumably the first Web 2.0 on-line community dealing with coatings in the graphics industry.

"The way people communicate and exchange information and experiences has undergone major change in recent years. Customers and interested parties now require to be served and kept informed in a way that is different to three or four years ago. More and more, they are quitting the passive role which seemed to have been assigned to them permanently and playing an active role in product development and analysis. We don't want to miss out on exploiting this desire on the part of customers, interested parties, suppliers and retailers to work together with us consciously, not only on our product range but also on the company's marketing and sales targets", says Günter Korbacher, executive director of WEILBURGER Graphics GmbH, adding: "A company operating globally can no longer afford to neglect the wide-ranging opportunities which exist today thanks to the worldwide proliferation and public acceptance of the Internet, which is growing continuously. The best things about the active involvement of this sector in corporate communication are the uninterrupted availability of the medium and the direct flow of information between all the communication partners. We shall be able to shift large areas of our support and customer relationship management to this medium and even initiate the development of new products by evaluating customers' wishes. Our customers will get the chance to exchange experiences and knowledge within the expert community and also be able to avail themselves of the platform to offer services of their own within that community. After a start-up phase, even for retailers, suppliers and journalists, the community is sure to represent an ideal analysis instrument with which market tendencies and requirements can be rendered visible at a very early stage."

Gerhardshofen, Dec. 1st 2008 – From the very beginning, WEILBURGER Graphics GmbH, with its registered office in Gerhardshofen, has relied on successful personnel management and ongoing growth. A greater-than-average number of WEILBURGER Graphics trainees regularly complete their training as the best in their class. Almost all of them remain with the company.

As from this year, the new trainees are:
  • Andrea Pinsenschaum, industrial business management assistant
  • Denise Mertins, industrial business management assistant

WEILBURGER Graphics GmbH looks back at drupa 2008

Gerhardshofen, July 21st 2008  – This year's drupa was the fourth at which WEILBURGER Graphics GmbH has been present as an exhibitor. On three of those occasions, the company was an active member of PrintCity. So this year at drupa too, WEILBURGER Graphics was present in hall 6 with its own exhibition stand and, for the first time, with a new image, intended to make a fresher, more modern and more inviting impression. And it certainly did! "drupa 2008 was our greatest trade fair success so far. We were able to make advances in all areas and were very positively surprised by the immense demand for our services and products and by how consistently well informed our visitors were," says Günter Korbacher, executive director of WEILBURGER Graphics.

Brilliant results with TWIN EFFECT COATINGS from WEILBURGER Graphics

Special coating effects continue to be fashionable and finished printed products are booming. For many printing works, however, this is a market for which they are unprepared in technical terms. Many coating effects require double coating systems or have to be produced off-line at high cost or by means of several machine runs.

But with WEILBURGER Graphics SENOLITH® TWIN EFFECT COATINGS, some fascinating matt-gloss and structure-gloss effects can also be achieved using printing systems with only one coating unit. SENOLITH® TWIN EFFECT COATINGS are created as perfectly matched coating systems, consisting of an offset printing ink, which is processed in the printing unit and can thus produce the very finest structures, and a dispersion coating in two different qualities. The matt or structure effects are defined via the offset printing ink components. A final overcoat of the whole surface with gloss coating brings out the different coating effects and protects the print object.

Successful start of new production unit for water-based film laminating adhesives at WEILBURGER Graphics

Gerhardshofen, 02/19/2008 – After successful market launch of the new SENOBOND® WB FILM LAMINATING ADHESIVE product line last year, WEILBURGER Graphics have also successfully started the new production unit for these products a few days ago. After a planning and construction time of only 9 months, the 350 thousand Euro unit was started as planned on 9 January.

Due to the huge success, WEILBURGER Graphics have already achieved with this new product line, the management decided in favour of an adjustment of the unit which is worth to be seen. With the new production unit WEILBURGER Graphics are able to achieve a production capacity of more than 4,000 tons of laminating adhesive per year. “In order to visualise this number you have to imagine 570 million laminated sheets in 3B format. These are 400 million square metres and would cover almost 50,000 football pitches.” Günter Korbacher, managing director of WEILBURGER Graphics GmbH.

In order to cope with this enormous amount logistically, the raw material and interim storage in Gerhardshofen was enlarged, so that there is additional space for 40 tons of SENOBOND® WB FILM LAMINATING ADHESIVE.

Dr. Manfred Becker: “Our highest aim is the satisfaction of our customers. In order to ensure this in the long term it is essential to provide high quality products which are available, without interruption. Production shortages are not acceptable. Our new production unit guarantees permanent top quality at shortest delivery time even with this new product line.”

With the new water-based film laminating adhesive, WEILBURGER Graphics GmbH now complete their extensive product range of water-based primer, glues and varnishes which are optimally adjusted to each other.

At the moment SENOBOND® WB FILM LAMINATING ADHESIVE is available in two different versions under the product numbers 375200 and 375202 via WEILBURGER Graphics or their partners. Further adjusted versions are planned and will be available soon.
